Torogakure - Mission Report [1]

Chapter 1: The Festival of a Thousand Lanterns.

Mission 1: Lanterns in the sky.

Tami walked along the light-littered streets, through the masses of people, by-passing the stalls that sold sweets, drinks and laterns. She hold her lantern in her hands, touching it oly lightly like it would be destroyed by any stronger force. The blonde ninja smiled to herself as she passed another quite tempting stall, the smell of Shichimi-spiced Ramen filled her nose and for a mere moment, Tami thought about getting some of it. But as she regained her senses, she kept going, passing the stall and leaving it behind her. 

As she continued walking along the dirt-streets, the people she passed got fewer and fewer until she came to a grassy field. For a short moment, Tami took the sight in with all her senses. The huge field was full with fresh grass and the scent of it was heavy in the air of the humid summer night. Along with the grass, Tami smelled the flowers, the trees and the faint scent of the ramen she still longed for. The grass and the tree's leafs rustled with a shallow breeze and faintly, Tami could hear a bird chirping. 

She looked up from the ground in front of her and faced the hill in the middle of the grassy field. With slow steps she walked carefully over the field, her gaze turned upwards to look at the star-littered sky. Only a few lanterns adorned the sky and Tami smiled in eagerness, looking forward to when the most lanterns would be freed and blown away by the gentle, soft wind.

As she reached the top of the hill, Tami climbed up the lone tree to the highest branch that would hold her and took a hold of her lantern with one hand, holding it out to the sky. As gently as she could, the female Shinobi breathed a small stream of fire, as little as possible to not harm the lantern's thin fabric. When the fire ignited the small candle inside the lantern, a gentle wind came up and took the learn with it, up into the sky. A small smile played around Tami's lips as she stood there, leaning onto the tree's trunk and contently watching her lantern reside by the others, their light any beauty even over-shadowing the moon itself.
