Literature Text

Yorokobi silently (more or less) sneaked through the woods, searching for prey. The day was still young and he had already caught a reckless rabbit, it wasn't much but a beginning. He knew he needed to concentrate on hunting because if he didn't catch a good meal today, Sonohoka was sure to scold him. He could already hear her strong and demeaning voice. This thought shook him enough to focus again.
He wandred through the forest again and watched out for uncareful animals. After he caught another rabbit he took a small rest a nearby river. Before drinking he looked around, feeling spied on, after seeing nobody he returned his gaze to the river again and took a cautious swig of the clear  stream water before he saw a shadow dart over the water and then over the grass nearby. It was fast and he judged it to be a bird, a big one at that but he didn't question the nature, it daily got him his meal.
Satisfied with the fresh feeling the cold water brought him he made another try for hunt. But before rushing into action he hid the two rabbits he caught near the stream hidden between the bushes, straying foxes seemed to like stealing the prey of others. Yorokobi was about to jump over the stream to get into the part of the woods he hadn't searched through when he noticed a big bird-like thing soarign through the sky. Amazed by the new and interesting thing he saw, Yorokobi wanted to follow it and ended up walking straight into the river. He fell into the cold water, face first. The brook wasn't deep, he sat up so that his head and neck were over the surface and coughed. In his interested state he forgot to close his mouth, making him swallow tons of water. After Yorokobi was sure that all the water was out of his lungs, his first intention was to find the flying thing that almost make him drown.
"I mean I love water but this....that's...not very....cool!" he howled, shaing his head.
As he was shaking his fur, he saw an orange and red canine-like think flit through the bushes, successfully stealing a rabbit of his. A growled deeply, forgetting the big bird he saw and focused on what he thought was a fox. Running through the woods, sniffing the air every second, listening for any trampling of paw-peads on the musky, dirty ground. It was like a hunt, once or twice he thought he got the fox but ended up hearing a teasing call from the complete other side. 'It's like I'm paranoid, looking over my back!' he cursed himself mentally, 'I'm a wolf, I can't be tricked by a sly fox, they're really no good!' If the smally fry didn't steal the half of his huntings, he would have long stopped chasing it but he couldn't do that, he wouldn't back up, it was about his honor now! He looked up to the sky and howled, the hunt was on.
"Bring it on fox, I'll get ya, you'll see!" and with that, he folowe a new scent. Shortly after he stopped on a clearing, the scent stopped there.
"Hey you stupid devil of a fox, show yourself!" he called mockingly, looking around.
"Oh boy, did I trick the big bad wolf?" teased the soft voice again. Yorokobi knew, it had to near, whoever stole his rabbit would pay...if he found him that is.
"Hey you, I'm up here!" and with that, Yorokobi looked into the sky and hardly believed what he saw. A Freaking. Flying. Dog.
It had wings, was a definitely smaller than him, probably only half his size, and was smirking at him.
"Why the heck do you have wings? How can you fly with them? What's your name? Why are you here and where are you coming from? And were you the one that stole my rabbit? Where is it? Did you eat it?" asked Yorokobi, all his questions put in one. As the flying canine didn't answer him and had a slightly confused look on it's face Yorokobi added: "Answer me, I think I have a right to know something about you, or atleast about my prey!"
He impatiently howled again.
"It's like a whirlwind inside of my head. Let's take it slow, can we?" explained the flying-canine calmly with it's soft voice, Yorokobi had to say, it sounded quite melodic. The thing that stole his rabbit started slowly losing it's hight, it landed on the ground like it never did anything different.
"What's your name, big, bad wolf?" mocked the small dog that now sat calmly before him. It's wings were neatly covering it's body, they were almost completely white, except for some seemingly random red feathers. It's body was mainly orange, this made him think that a fox stole his meal, even though he had to admit that this orange was way lighter, the back fur of the dog was red and the top of his head was a slightly lighter colour. The fur on the tummy was white, it went up until under the chin. They tail had stripes, but he couldn't see and details because it was curled around it's legs.
Yorokobi had settled down a bit, normally he wasn't one to get all rilled up but well, nevr touch a wolves meal...
"Hm, I'm Yorokobi. You?" He sighed and sat down, waiting for the answer the dog owed him.
"My name is Shell, as you can see I have wings." Yorokobi nodded, happy that he got atleast one answer. It was better now that he knew who was sitting opposite of him.
"So, next question. Did you steal my rabbit?" he cocked his head, hoping for a reliable answer. Not being good with judging, Sonohoka had told him to get to know his opponent, his weak sides and spots. As mean as she could be, her tipps and everlasting rants had their useful things.
Before he could even suspect anything, Shell's blue eyes sparkled mischievously, she spread her wings and even before she had opened them completely, a strong wind lifter her up in the air so high that Yorokobi was unable to reach her, even if he jumped.
"What the heck?! You owe me some answers you little devil! Come back down here!" Yorokobi scoffed, a bit angered.
"No, you gotta catch me for that answer, it's like the master question!" she called and laughed to her hearts content. And with that, she took the next strong wind and flew away, leaving a clearly puzzled, slightly angered and a bi amused Yorokobi on the ground to rue the day he was born without wings.
Okay, I'm finally done!
After about 5 hours of thinking and writting, I produced this and without any rueing I can say: I love this, really.

Shell belongs to *Bienoo
Yorokobi belongs to me.

I really love shells personality, even though the only info I had was 'adventurous' xD
It was really, really much fun to write this, I think I've never laughed more. Yorokobi and Shell could be good friends, he's one to get easily in trouble, he just makes you think he's responsible! xD

Written for *Bienoo's contest.
